The barnevelder chicken eggs that’ve been in the incubator for the past three weeks hatched this past weekend! We’ve got 17 busy chicks running around in a box in the garage and growing quickly on their diet of chick feed, slaters, worms, slugs and grass.
These eggs came from our chickens in the barn but we recently ordered four dozen eggs from interstate (actually three, they threw the fourth in for free!) that arrived earlier this week and are now in the incubator. Chicks due in three weeks and ducklings due in four!
If I can get them to upload, i’ll put a few videos of one chick encouraging another as it hatches on Facebook. WordPress won’t let me upload video, unfortunately. Pretty cool to watch! It was a great reminder of the importance of friends and family- and how we’re called to encourage one another in Jesus. XO
A few weekends ago, Shane and I drove down through Cygnet and back up the Channel– perhaps my most favourite part of Tasmania! We stopped in at Middleton to see my Godfather, Justin, and took a break to stretch our legs at Eggs and Bacon Bay. Shane had fun skipping rocks and the weather was supehhhhhhhb (my accent will no longer facilitate use of the letter R).
We celebrated my Dad’s birthday a bit late this year because he was in Queensland having surgery for prostate cancer in September. We all pooled our funds and purchased him a motorbike registration & class (required here to get your bike license) and Andrea made this great helmet out of paper mâché to deliver the gift in. It made for some pretty great pictures!
